About Isabel

Isabel Southey is an experienced and passionate Costume Designer and Supervisor, working across theatre and arts education. Having worked professionally for several years, her projects include Midsummer Mechanicals (The Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, London), Dewi in the Deep (Royal Opera House), Message in a Bottle (Sadlers Wells) and The Rake’s Progress (Royal Academy of Music). She has also worked in costume education for the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and regularly runs its Backstage Roadshow workshops.
Isabel took a career break to complete a two-year MA in Costume Design and Construction at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama (2026) and has a Fine Art degree (First Class Honours, London Metropolitan University, 2020).
Her particular interests are creating characters inspired by subcultures and countercultural movements. She also brings her conceptual art background to designing for the stage.
